This department, led by X CEO Elon Musk and former U.S. presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, was unveiled last week by President-elect Donald Trump.
The department shares its name with the well-known meme coin Dogecoin, reflecting Musk’s well-known passion for the cryptocurrency.
As per Trump’s announcement, DOGE aims to “eliminate government bureaucracy, reduce excessive regulations, cut unnecessary spending, and reorganize federal agencies.”
Marjorie Taylor Greene Appointed For DOGE Subcommittee
Sources informed CNBC that Greene will chair the Subcommittee on Delivering Governmental Efficiency.
In a statement to the outlet, Greene conveyed her eagerness for the position, stating, “I’m thrilled to chair this new subcommittee aimed at collaborating closely with President Trump, Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, and the entire DOGE team.”
This initiative is in line with Trump’s broader agenda for enhancing government efficiency.
During the Bitcoin 2024 Conference in Nashville, Trump noted, “We will have regulations. However, moving forward, the rules will be established by those who support your industry, not those who oppose it.”
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy Outline DOGE Objectives
Musk and Ramaswamy are also launching a podcast titled “Dogecast” to keep the public updated on their initiatives to minimize government spending.
“We aim to engage the public as we unveil the realities of waste, fraud, and abuse within government,” Ramaswamy elaborated in a video shared on his YouTube channel on November 21.
In a Wall Street Journal op-ed earlier this week, Musk and Ramaswamy detailed their strategy, criticizing legislators for perpetuating inefficiency.
“The entrenched and ever-expanding bureaucracy poses a fundamental threat to our republic, and politicians have enabled it for far too long,” Musk and Ramaswamy stated. “That’s why we are approaching things differently. We are entrepreneurs, not politicians.”
DOGE and the Blockchain Sector
The creation of DOGE signifies a significant move towards modernizing government functions through advanced technologies.
Under Greene’s guidance and with the participation of innovators like Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, the subcommittee plans to address bureaucracy and investigate ways to simplify regulations, especially those impacting the blockchain sector.
On the campaign trail, Trump committed to enacting crypto-friendly policies, including plans to reorganize agencies to better support blockchain and digital assets.

While these commitments remain to be tested, they reflect a broader vision of promoting innovation within the tech industry.
This aligns with his expressed intention to reform the SEC’s enforcement-heavy regulatory stance and appoint officials with a more balanced view on cryptocurrencies.
Although Trump’s previous ventures, such as World Liberty Financial, faced challenges in gaining momentum, DOGE represents a more extensive initiative.
By focusing on efficiency and collaboration, it has the potential to transform how crypto policies are developed, bridging the divide between government and the blockchain industry.
