The team at Ondo Finance has introduced an L1 blockchain solution aimed at the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA) by institutional players. The initiative seeks to connect traditional finance (TradFi) with decentralized finance ().

Ondo Finance, a decentralized financial protocol, has announced the rollout of the Ondo Chain blockchain, which operates on a Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism specifically tailored for institutional engagement in the RWA sector. Notable features of this solution include the incorporation of approved validators, decentralized price oracles, omnichain communication systems, and the capability to utilize tokenized assets for staking and transaction assurances.

Ondo Chain will grant institutional participants access to enhanced on-chain market functionalities, which encompass:

  • top-tier brokerage services facilitating cross-collateralization of cryptocurrency and traditional assets;
  • on-chain asset management with automated portfolio rebalancing;
  • cross-chain token issuance and the distribution of supported by RWAs.

Designed to address the limitations of existing blockchain solutions, Ondo Chain merges the advantages of both private and public networks, ensuring institutional-grade security, compatibility with DeFi, seamless liquidity, and minimal transaction fees. While primarily aimed at institutional entities, the platform will also be available to retail investors.

The development of the protocol involved discussions with representatives from prominent firms, including Franklin Templeton, Wellington Management, WisdomTree, Google Cloud, McKinsey, and others, all of which are already utilizing RWA products within the Ondo Finance ecosystem.
