KuCoin, a cryptocurrency exchange, has unveiled KuCoin Pay, a new payment solution targeting the retail sector. This service facilitates both online and offline transactions globally, enabling merchants to accept 54 cryptocurrencies as payment, including , , , and .

Users of KuCoin Pay can make contactless payments through the exchange’s mobile application or by scanning QR codes. The service also supports mobile phone top-ups and the purchase of gift cards. Access to the platform requires a verified KuCoin account.

Importantly, this is not KuCoin’s initial foray into payment solutions. In late November 2023, the exchange launched the KuCard debit crypto card on the Visa network, which supports Apple Pay and Google Pay. Currently, the card is available exclusively to residents of the European Economic Area, allowing them to make in-store purchases and withdraw cash at ATMs.

Subsequently, in March 2024, two legal actions were initiated against KuCoin in the United States, alleging unlicensed business operations, violations of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and non-compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) regulations.
