KILT Identity Blockchain by Polkadot Partners with Deloitte
Polkadot has revealed that Deloitte Switzerland is incorporating the former’s parachain KILT blockchain technology to issue reusable digital credentials aimed at enhancing KYC and KYB processes.
This initiative marks Deloitte as the latest significant corporate ally to join the Polkadot ecosystem. The digital credentials will serve a variety of purposes, including regulatory compliance for banking and decentralized finance (DeFi), age verification for online shopping, secure logins, and fundraising activities.
Deloitte-KILT Integration
The official blog post clarified that the reusable KYB and KYC credentials, created on KILT’s identity framework, tackle the challenges of providing customers with control and flexibility. Consequently, clients maintain authority as credentials are kept in the wallet on their personal devices, allowing them to decide with whom they share their credentials and which specific data points they disclose.
As part of the integration, Deloitte will offer a wallet to customers for managing and sharing their credentials. This new functionality will be available as a browser extension, which will not necessitate any prior blockchain knowledge.
In light of this development, Micha Bitterli, Head of Deloitte Managed Services, remarked,

“By providing reusable digital credentials anchored on the KILT blockchain, Deloitte is revolutionizing verification processes for both individuals and organizations. Deloitte possesses the technological expertise, reach, and credibility to issue credentials that are recognized globally.”
The executive further emphasized the convenience, cost-effectiveness, and security benefits of utilizing digital credentials, along with their potential to pave the way for new digital marketplaces, spanning e-commerce, DeFi, and gaming.
Additionally, Deloitte will be responsible for digitally signing the credentials, and the firm has the capability to revoke them using blockchain technology if the customer’s circumstances change after the credential has been issued.
Polkadot’s KILT
Polkadot KILT’s technology is a blockchain-based decentralized identity solution designed to address the current inefficiencies in KYC/KYB processes that may jeopardize consumer data privacy. This latest integration follows another partnership with Axel Springer, one of Europe’s largest digital publishers, to launch a service for logins based on Web3 technology.
Last year, it announced the introduction of an application called web3name, which allows users to create a custom name representing their digital identity. The aim was to enhance the transparency of users’ identities while preserving the privacy associated with personal data.
