Enterprise-grade blockchain platform Kadena and the Croatian Soccer Federation (HNS) have established a four-year collaboration aimed at providing Croatian national team supporters “a seamless digital fan engagement experience.”
According to the press release, this partnership, which extends through 2028, will encompass several major global soccer events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2028 UEFA Euro Cup.
Founded in 1912, the Croatian Soccer Federation (Hrvatski nogometni savez, or HNS) serves as the governing authority for soccer in this EU nation. It plays a crucial role in organizing, managing, developing, and promoting the highly successful and popular national team.

“The realm of fan experiences is evolving as rapidly as new technologies like cryptocurrencies and artificial intelligence become integrated into our daily lives, and we are keeping pace with and advancing this evolution through our VATRENI project,” Kustić remarked.
Meanwhile, Kadena was established in the United States in 2017 by Stuart Popejoy and Will Martino. They developed JP Morgan’s first blockchain in 2016 and participated in the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)’s Crypto Committee. With its smart contract language Pact, it provides tools for creating developer-friendly blockchain applications that address real-world needs, according to the organization.

VATRENI Migrates from Polygon to Kadena
The Kadena-HNS collaboration facilitates access to VIP experiences and introduces high-visibility activations. Additionally, it will involve the migration of the HNS ERC-20 fan token, VATRENI, from Polygon to Kadena via the Kinesis Bridge.
The press release indicated that this represents the “migration of one of the first EVM-based projects to the Kadena ecosystem with the introduction of Kadena’s forthcoming Chainweb EVM technology.”

Additionally, HNS launched the Vatreni loyalty token (named after the national team, ‘The Fiery Ones’/’Those of Fire’) in January 2022. This initiative provided a range of exclusive benefits and experiences, along with new merchandise and online challenges.
The Vatreni coin is currently trading at $0.5412, having increased by 8% in a single day. It has also risen by 26% over the past month and 42% in the last year.
It reached its all-time high of $1 in November 2022, experiencing a decline of 45.92% since then. Conversely, it has surged 981% from its lowest price of $0.05005 recorded in July 2024.

“The objective with the [VATRENI] token is to push the boundaries of traditional fan engagement opportunities of the past and introduce a more future-oriented fan experience,” stated Joel Woodman, Kadena’s Head of Partnerships.
“We are eager to collaborate with our partners to integrate a variety of new technologies into the Croatian Soccer Federation ecosystem, including AI tools, digital experiences, and personalized activations, bringing a completely new dynamic to the fan experience,” he added.
Meanwhile, HNS previously announced VATRENIX, which it described as an advanced digital collection that merges digital and physical products within a futuristic narrative, although the organization has yet to provide a release date.
