The potential introduction of a digital dollar has ignited significant discussions over the years, with critics of this monetary concept citing its centralized nature as a primary drawback.

CBDCs have garnered the interest of several US presidential candidates, including Republican nominee Ron DeSantis and Democrat Robert F. Kennedy.

The former recently pledged to discard the digital dollar into the “trash can” if he is elected as the next leader of the United States. Kennedy believes that the government could use the CBDC as an “ultimate mechanism for social surveillance and control.” Conversely, both candidates are vocal supporters of bitcoin, promising to allow the asset to flourish under their potential administrations.

Previous Crypto Forays of Rogan and Post Malone

In addition to sharing his thoughts on CBDCs, Rogan has previously discussed bitcoin. He considers it a “viable form of currency,” likening its current state to the early days of the Internet:

“I think of bitcoin the same way I think about the early Internet.”

He later expressed “a lot of hope for cryptocurrencies,” while admitting that he is not an authority in the area.

Post Malone has already embraced the digital asset trend, acquiring a non-fungible token (NFT) from the Bore Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) in 2021. He also showcased his collectible in the music video for his song “One Right Now.”

Conversely, Rogan is not enthusiastic about NFTs, referring to them as a cryptocurrency “hustle.” He is astonished by the substantial sums people spend on digital art when it can be downloaded for free:

“Here’s my problem, I can have that photo, and I can have it on my phone.”
