Jack Dorsey References Bitcoin at Super Bowl Sporting “Satoshi” T-Shirt
Twitter co-founder and Block Head Jack Dorsey subtly introduced Bitcoin at last night’s star-studded Super Bowl event – although most regular viewers might not have noticed.
The tech entrepreneur was captured in one of the stadium’s suites alongside artists such as Jay-Z and Beyonce. In contrast to his more elaborately dressed companions, Dorsey wore a straightforward Nirvana-themed t-shirt, featuring the word “Satoshi” at the top.

Jack Dorsey, Satoshi, and Bitcoin
Satoshi Nakamoto was the alias adopted by Bitcoin’s anonymous creator before he disappeared from the internet in 2011. His enigmatic presence has led many admirers of his invention to idolize him, with some even constructing statues in his honor.
Dorsey is certainly one of those admirers. Since departing from Twitter (now known as X) in 2022, much of his professional focus has shifted to his payments company, Block, which has intensified its efforts on developing Bitcoin network infrastructure.
In his sporadic posts on X, Dorsey leverages his platform to advocate for Bitcoin and Bitcoin-related initiatives. In November, he provided financial support to OCEAN – the decentralized Bitcoin mining pool that excludes Ordinals transactions.
In December, he endorsed his company’s new Bitcoin wallet, Bitkey, designed to ensure secure multi-sig Bitcoin custody.
Jay-Z, the rapper who was next to Dorsey, has previously partnered with the tech entrepreneur to donate 500 Bitcoin to Core developers.
Bringing Bitcoin to the Super Bowl
Dorsey’s Satoshi shirt did not go unnoticed by the Bitcoin community on X.
“Jack Dorsey wearing a Satoshi shirt sitting next to Jay-Z and Beyoncé was the real crypto Super Bowl ad,” commented one user.
Obvs @jack wore it better but I LOVE this shirt. Get yours here and pay with Lightning if you can. https://t.co/iSL9busLVH pic.twitter.com/WLqu1vEVhh

Crypto captured attention at the 2022 Super Bowl following a remarkable year of gains for the sector, featuring advertisements from prominent crypto exchanges like FTX, Coinbase, and Crypto.com.
The significant crypto market downturn in 2022 and the subsequent collapse of FTX left companies lacking the funds to invest in such lavish advertisements and with a damaged reputation among retail investors.
As of February, Google search interest for Bitcoin remains close to bear market lows. Its price has swiftly rebounded to $50,000 following the launch of several Bitcoin spot ETFs last month, facilitating easier access to the asset for institutions.
Several NFL players have previously agreed to receive their salaries in cryptocurrency, including New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley and Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
