Welch’s legal team also reached out to Cryptonews to reaffirm her position and provide further information.

In their statement, they highlighted that Welch was not involved in the technical or financial aspects of the $HAWK token’s launch.

Welch’s legal representatives stated:

“Haliey Welch did not lead or create this project. She merely received a sponsorship fee for lending her persona to those who developed and launched the memecoin.”

They further clarified that her involvement was limited to promotional efforts under a fixed-term contract and that she had no awareness of the alleged market manipulation strategies employed by the project creators.

“Aside from the initial fixed fee, there was no assurance she would earn additional income from the memecoin afterward.”

The Background of the $HAWK Lawsuit

The $HAWK token was introduced in early December and received substantial promotion from Welch.

It initially achieved a market capitalization of $490 million before plummeting by 93% shortly after its launch.

Claims of a rug pull quickly emerged, leading Burwick Law to file a federal lawsuit on behalf of 12 U.S.-based plaintiffs who collectively incurred losses of $151,000.

The lawsuit identifies Alex Larson Schultz (a.k.a. Doc Hollywood), OverHere Limited, Clinton So, and Tuah the Moon Foundation as defendants.

Welch herself is not named in the lawsuit but is facing criticism for her role in endorsing the project.

Blockchain analysis indicated that over 96% of the token supply was held in connected wallets, some of which were involved in substantial sell-offs.

These actions incited outrage among investors, many of whom were new to cryptocurrency and heavily influenced by Welch’s public endorsement.

Social media erupted with accusations and accounts of financial ruin from investors who had placed their trust in the project.

Welch has maintained that her participation in the $HAWK project was restricted to a promotional agreement, for which she was compensated for advertising the token on her platforms.

Her legal representatives assert that she had no insight into the project’s internal workings or the and that the warning signs—such as centralized wallet distributions—were neither disclosed nor evident to her during the agreement.

“Due to her limited role, Haliey was completely isolated from this project and had no control over it.”

They further claimed that Welch was a victim of poor guidance and exploitation by the company, which aimed to leverage her viral popularity.

Despite the controversy, Welch’s team is striving to restore her public image.

Welch’s statement indicates a commitment to clearing her name and progressing in her career.

Meanwhile, Burwick Law continues to strengthen its case, urging affected investors to come forward.
