Scammers have focused on well-known crypto influencers on X (Twitter) with the acronym GCR, late on Sunday. His compromised X account featured a message forecasting the price of the ORDI token, leading to temporary price spikes.

The hacker seemingly shared promotional material regarding ORDI and Luna 2.0 tokens, which resulted in brief price surges.

GCR subsequently verified the hack, urging followers to disregard any promotional content.

Interestingly, he suspects that someone was “bribed” at X.com to gain access to his login details, leading to the security breach.

“I was informed two months ago by someone connected to Twitter that bribes had been made to access my account, and I enhanced security then,” he stated. “However, there can’t be any security if X employees accept money for administrative access.”

After the hacker’s message, the price of ORDI rose from approximately $40 to $44. However, the increase was short-lived, and the price reverted back. The token is currently trading at $40. Additionally, Luna 2.0 experienced a momentary increase of 274%.

Observers’ Predictions

GCR’s alert regarding the hack has attracted the attention of various crypto observers who speculated on the potential motive behind the hack.

For example, Bitcoin developer and observer Udi Wertheimer suggested that GCR’s X account hack might be part of a broader scam aimed at celebrities and crypto influencers.

“As more niche celebrities are emerging rapidly launching meme coins — during a long weekend when platform engineers are absent — I advise you all to exercise caution,” he cautioned.

Moreover, prominent Chinese crypto blogger Colin Wu pointed out that the hacker “established positions on OKX and Binance 6 minutes in advance.”

Another crypto analyst, Miles Deutscher, remarked that GCR’s hacker “fumbled the bag hard.”

“Bro could’ve chosen any credible micro-cap to pump 10-20x, yet opted to promote ORDI and LUNA2 for a mere 10% wick.”

Celebrity Crypto Influencers’ X Accounts Hacked

Previously, American rapper “Rich The Kid” shared a link to purchase a new token RICH, launched on the Solana memecoin creation platform – pump.fun. According to DEX Screener data, the token’s market capitalization reached $90,000 within the first two hours of its launch.

However, the post was later removed, and no official statement from Rich The Kid’s management was issued confirming that it was a hack.

Simultaneously, American media personality Caitlyn Jenner’s X account promoted a new memecoin JENNER, also on the pump.fun platform. Reportedly, the token amassed a market value of $4.7 million since its inception. Given the token’s rapid increase, many suspected it to be a hack.

Jenner recently strongly endorsed that coin, urging followers to disregard influencers who advised against purchasing the JENNER token. “They want you to stay broke,” her latest post stated.
