Fifty Percent of Major Transactions in Worldwide FinTech Include U.S. Participation.
U.S. companies continue to lead the global FinTech landscape, with 50% of the largest transactions in 2024 taking place in the United States. Nevertheless, worldwide financing for FinTech enterprises decreased by 46% year-over-year in the first half of 2024.
As per the most recent FinTech market analysis by FinTech Global, five of the ten largest transactions in the industry during the first half of 2024 were executed by U.S. FinTech firms. The top ten also featured companies from the U.K., India, Singapore, and Australia.
Experts observed that the U.S. continues to be a prominent center for FinTech advancements, primarily due to its robust startup ecosystem, access to venture capital, and supportive regulatory environment.
In the first half of 2024, total FinTech funding reached $53 billion. The leading ten transactions in the sector amounted to approximately $4 billion, with nearly $2 billion allocated to U.S. firms. The two largest transactions in 2024, each valued at around $1 billion, involved the U.K. FinTech startup Abound and the U.S. cybersecurity firm Wiz.
The research also indicated a 46% reduction in global FinTech funding this year compared to the first half of 2023, when investors injected $98 billion into the industry. In comparison to the second half of 2023, which saw $66 billion invested, the decline is roughly 20%.
Analysts highlighted a notable drop in the number of global transactions. In the first half of 2024, there were 2,754 deals, a 50% decrease from the 5,449 deals during the same timeframe last year. Conversely, the second half of 2023 recorded 4,216 funding rounds, which is 35% higher than in the first half of 2024.
Additionally, this year experienced a downturn in funding for blockchain startups, which only secured $5.74 billion in the first half of 2024.
