EigenLayer Attracts $4.4 Billion in Ethereum Restaking Amid Growing Demand
In the last 10 days, EigenLayer experienced a significant surge in inflows, amassing over $4.4 billion, largely due to its Ethereum restaking feature.
As per data from DefiLlama, there is currently $1.93 billion in wrapped ether tokens locked within the protocol, alongside $2.73 billion in staked ether. At the time of this writing, EigenLayer’s total value locked (TVL) is reported to be $6.85 billion.
This advancement positions EigenLayer as a leading DeFi platform, highlighting the strong appeal of Ethereum restaking for investors aiming for improved yields.
EigenLayer’s Swift Growth in Ethereum Restaking
The influx of funds has propelled the liquid restaking platform to become the fifth largest protocol in the DeFi space.
Protocol by Rankings:
1. Lido $26.781B
2. Maker $8.306B
3. AAVE $8.116B
4. JustLend $6.971B
5. EigenLayer $6.859B
6. Uniswap $4.678B
7. Rocket Pool $3.39B

The rise in inflows followed EigenLayer’s decision to eliminate its 200k ETH individual caps on liquid staking tokens on February 5, a strategy aimed at fostering “organic demand,” as outlined in a blog post dated January 24. Although the opportunity for liquid restaking concluded on February 10, the subsequent $600 million increase in TVL can be attributed to the climbing asset prices.
The growth in EigenLayer’s TVL mirrors a wider trend in the DeFi sector, where the total capital locked in DeFi protocols has reached $71.2 billion. This represents the highest level since June 2022 and is nearly double the total observed during October’s low of $36.8 billion.
Restaking has significantly contributed to the upward trend of DeFi protocols. Capital on the liquid restaking platform ether.fi has seen a 406% increase, reaching $1.19 billion over the past 30 days, while Puffer Finance has recorded a 79% rise in just the last week.
The total value locked across various liquid restaking protocols, including EigenLayer, now amounts to $10 billion, a substantial increase from December’s figure of $350 million.
The Effect of ETH Restaking on Investor Yields
Ethereum restaking enables investors to stake their ETH on both the Ethereum blockchain and other platforms, enhancing the security and utility of their investments. While staking is foundational for Ethereum’s security, restaking extends the protocol’s security features to various applications within the network.
Restaking also allows for earning additional yields on ETH that is already “staked” on the primary Ethereum blockchain. Investors staking ether on Lido can currently earn an annual yield of 3.7%, while EigenLayer offers a platform for these investors to “restake” their ether for increased rewards.
