Crypto Investments Available for Booking 2.2 Million Hotels
Travala is expanding its accommodation booking options by integrating over 100 different cryptocurrencies through a collaboration with Trivago, a global lodging metasearch platform.
The Web3 travel platform Travala has announced the incorporation of cryptocurrency payments for booking 2.2 million hotels listed in Trivago’s database. Importantly, Trivago’s complete database features over 5 million hotels across more than 190 countries.
Additionally, Travala provides users with a crypto-based loyalty program, offering crypto rewards instead of traditional loyalty points. Customers who book hotels using cryptocurrency can earn rewards in BTC and AVA, which is Travala’s native token.
Juan Otero, Co-Founder and CEO of Travala, mentioned in the press release that the partnership with Trivago reflects a wider industry trend where travel companies are investigating alternative payment methods.
The convenience of cryptocurrency payments for accommodation bookings was emphasized by Max Krupyshev, CEO of CoinsPaid, during the Function Driven FinTech podcast.
“People around the globe want to pay for accommodations anywhere. This means they send money from everywhere, while hosts receive it from all over. In Europe, SEPA payments or traditional bank transfers work well. However, it becomes more complicated in more exotic regions. The challenge is to send or receive money quickly and securely. The solution is crypto payments,” stated Max.
In June 2024, Travala introduced support for TON for booking flights, hotels, tours, and other travel services in over 230 countries. Overall, Travala supports 127 payment methods, including more than 100 major cryptocurrencies.
