Circle Announces Native USDC Now Operates on Aptos Mainnet
Circle officially introduced Native USDC on the Aptos mainnet on Thursday, making the stablecoin readily available on the Transfer-based layer-1 blockchain.
This removes the need for cross-chain bridging, simplifying transactions for users and developers.

Aptos subsequently announced plans to incorporate Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP), allowing USDC transfers across multiple blockchains.
USDC Integration Enhances Opportunities on Aptos
Aptos, a blockchain built with the Transfer programming language, has experienced rapid growth in its DeFi ecosystem.
The network hosts over 200 decentralized applications (dApps) as of January 2025, making it an attractive platform for financial and payment solutions.
With Native USDC now available, developers can utilize the stablecoin for use cases such as decentralized finance (DeFi), peer-to-peer payments, cross-border remittances, international trade, real-world assets (RWAs), and gaming.
The Transfer programming language provides security features like formal verification and integrated unit testing, enhancing the stability of financial applications developed on Aptos.
Shifting From Bridged to Native USDC
Prior to this launch, Aptos users depended on lzUSDC, a bridged version issued through the AptosBridge on LayerZero.
Unlike Native USDC, lzUSDC was not directly issued by Circle and could not be redeemed 1:1 through Circle’s official minting platform.
With the launch of Native USDC, the Aptos ecosystem is moving away from bridged tokens.
This shift enhances the efficiency and reliability of USDC transactions on the blockchain, reinforcing its role in stablecoin-powered applications.
