The Cardano Foundation is collaborating with Brazil’s largest oil and gas company in an educational initiative aimed at training blockchain specialists to investigate the use of distributed ledger technology (DLT) within the energy industry.
The Cardano Foundation has revealed a partnership agreement with Petrobras, the state-owned oil and gas enterprise in Brazil. As part of this collaboration, Cardano specialists will facilitate a series of training workshops for Petrobras staff to enhance their understanding of DLT systems.
This initiative seeks to provide a platform for examining the implementation of blockchain technology in the energy sector. The educational workshops will be broadcast through the Cardano Academy educational platform. Petrobras intends to make this content accessible to more than 40,000 of its employees.

The workshop curriculum will encompass the characteristics of various blockchain applications and scenarios for utilizing DLT, along with interactive quizzes to reinforce the knowledge acquired. The first 500 students from the Cardano Academy will be awarded unique NFTs, which will be created as participants advance in their training. All Petrobras employees who finish the training will receive NFT certificates.
Frederick Gregaard, CEO of the Cardano Foundation, stated that the partnership with one of the largest public organizations globally will aid in the promotion of blockchain technologies and could serve as a significant catalyst for exploring new areas of DLT application, particularly regarding their potential use in the energy sector.
Interest in blockchain is not limited to the financial sector; historians, archaeologists, and space researchers are also looking into its applications. In India, blockchain technologies have already been effectively integrated into the business operations of the largest local oil company.
