Buterin proposed a way to improve the quality of content on DeFi platforms, 2026/02/02 17:24:32

Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin offered digital artists and content creators a new way to interact with audiences – by issuing special author tokens.
According to Buterin, decentralized platforms publish a huge amount of content without caring about quality. Neuroslopes created by artificial intelligence only make the situation worse. The Ethereum co-founder said that popular content creation platforms like BitClout and Zora attract mainly famous personalities or people with high social status. This prevents “mere mortals” who are ready to create something truly interesting from entering the market.
To test the value of materials and improve quality, Buterin suggested that digital artists and authors generate their own tokens by sending them to special decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). Participants in these DAOs could then vote on whether to accept proposed projects or not.
Users could make money in prediction markets by betting on which jobs will be accepted, Buterin added. He believes this should increase people’s interest in good content. The value of tokens issued by the authors of the materials may increase if the works are accepted. Buterin suggested that voting participants destroy part of their tokens, increasing scarcity and potential value.
Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus didn’t like the idea. He called copyright tokens dead assets with no real future. According to Marcus, these tokens will quickly lose their value and be forgotten – they will suffer the same fate as the millions of other digital assets issued every year.
Earlier, Buterin criticized the social network X for blocking accounts, calling it “a direct road to authoritarianism.” Buterin recently listed the conditions that decentralized application (DeFi) developers must meet in order for the Ethereum network to become fully decentralized.
