The world’s largest asset management firm, BlackRock, has acquired approximately $906 million worth of Bitcoin over the past week. The purchases were made through wallets associated with the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) exchange-traded fund (ETF), as reported by analysts from Arkham Intelligence.

In recent days, several significant amounts have been transferred to addresses linked to IBIT, including 13 transactions of 300 each, valued at around $23 million. According to blockchain analysts, BlackRock’s weekly acquisition constituted a major portion of the total inflow into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs, which saw $996.4 million in new investments over the week. This marks the highest figure since mid-January, based on data from the SoSoValue platform.

Currently, the asset volume of IBIT stands at 802,523 BTC, with a total value exceeding $62 billion. This represents approximately 3.8% of the total circulating Bitcoin supply. The market capitalization of the BlackRock fund is over $159.2 billion.

The last Bitcoin purchase by the investment firm occurred in January, when the fund acquired approximately 9,619 BTC for $878 million.

IBIT was launched in January 2024, immediately following the approval of the first spot Bitcoin ETFs by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The fund reached an asset volume of $10 billion within the first seven weeks of trading and surpassed $80 billion in less than a year. The total net inflow into IBIT has exceeded $64.9 billion.

BlackRock made a significant purchase of the leading cryptocurrency amid a transaction by another major Bitcoin holder—Strategy, which acquired 34,164 BTC for approximately $2.54 billion. This represents the largest purchase in the past year, increasing Strategy’s corporate reserves to 815,061 BTC.
