Bitunix Becomes First Exchange to Offer Isolated Margin Within Multi-Asset Margin Mode

Bitunix, recognized as one of the world’s fastest-growing cryptocurrency exchanges, has announced a significant upgrade to its platform: it is now among the first exchanges to introduce Isolated Margin functionality within its Multi-Asset Margin mode. This development allows futures traders to manage risk on a pair-by-pair basis while still pooling their eligible assets under a single framework.

The update is now live on the web version and available via the Bitunix App. It provides traders with the flexibility to choose between Cross Margin and Isolated Margin for individual trading pairs, a level of granularity that was previously unavailable in Multi-Asset Margin mode.

“This is about giving traders more control, not more complexity,” said Steven Gu, Bitunix’s Chief Strategy Officer. “Multi-Asset Margin mode already made it easier to manage assets in one place. Now traders can also decide, pair by pair, how much risk they want to isolate.”

Prior to this update, Multi-Asset Margin mode supported only Cross Margin. This meant that all of a trader’s positions shared the same pool of margin. Consequently, if one position moved sharply against a trader, it could negatively impact the margin available to other positions within the account.

With the new update, traders can opt for Isolated Margin for supported pairs. Under Isolated Margin, the capital backing a specific position is kept separate from the rest of the account. If that particular trade incurs a loss, the damage is generally contained to the margin assigned to that specific position, preventing it from spreading to other trades.

In summary: Cross Margin distributes risk across the entire account, while Isolated Margin confines it to a single trade. Bitunix now allows users to mix and match both approaches within the same multi-asset account.

Key Features

  • Choice by trading pair: Traders can select either Cross Margin or Isolated Margin for each supported pair, depending on their specific trading strategy.
  • Clearer risk separation: Isolated Margin limits the extent to which a single losing position can affect the rest of an account.
  • More transparency: Traders can view and manage isolated margin usage at the position level after an order is executed.
  • Flexibility without giving up the pooled account: Traders can apply Isolated Margin to certain pairs while still managing other eligible assets under the same multi-asset framework.

Traders can only switch between Cross Margin and Isolated Margin for a specific pair if they have no open positions or pending orders for that pair. Users on outdated versions of the Bitunix App may not see the feature and should update to the latest version. Additionally, some Isolated Margin orders may trigger additional risk checks, such as borrowing limits. If an order does not go through, traders may need to reduce the order size, add more margin, or repay borrowings.

Expanding Bitunix’s Trading and Payment Tools

This latest futures update follows several recent product launches from Bitunix. The exchange recently introduced Auto Transfer for the Bitunix Card, a feature that automatically moves funds into a user’s card balance when needed, ensuring funds are ready for payments. Bitunix also launched Super Alerts, a new chart feature that helps traders monitor market movements and receive notifications when selected price conditions are met. These additions are part of Bitunix’s ongoing focus on building practical tools that make trading and crypto payments simpler and more flexible for users.

To use the Isolated Margin feature, traders can log in to their Bitunix account, open the futures trading page, select a supported pair under Multi-Asset Margin mode, and choose between Cross Margin and Isolated Margin.
