Bitcoin Investors Can Gain EU Citizenship Through New Unbound Fund
A new investment fund called Unbound is offering a pathway to European Union citizenship through Portugal’s Golden Visa program. To qualify, investors must commit a minimum of €500,000 (approximately $542,000) to Bitcoin via the fund.

Alessandro Palombo, Co-Founder and CEO of Unbound, announced that investors can secure EU citizenship by channeling their investments into Bitcoin through the fund.
According to the fund’s official website, Unbound is the first Web3 organization to gain access to Portugal’s Golden Visa program, which allows non-EU nationals to obtain citizenship within five years. Investors who allocate more than €500,000 (~$542,000) in BTC through the Unbound fund become eligible for the program.
The fund focuses on investing in European blockchain companies that hold Bitcoin in their accounts or utilize the asset as collateral. Looking ahead, Unbound plans to invest in BlackRock’s exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Palombo describes Bitcoin as a tool for freedom of movement. He also noted that the fund has already onboarded several major clients and is currently negotiating partnerships with various collaborators.
Obtaining citizenship through Bitcoin investments is not unique to this program; El Salvador offers similar opportunities, and the Central African Republic (CAR) provides citizenship for investments in its national cryptocurrency, Sango Coin.
