Long-time cryptocurrency investor and billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban extended his congratulations to Republican nominee Donald Trump on November 6 for his victory over Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

Mark Cuban Extends Congratulations to Donald Trump

“Congrats @realDonaldTrump. You won fair and square,” Cuban remarked before also congratulating X founder and prominent Trump supporter Elon Musk.

The businessman, who hails from Pittsburgh, has been a long-time supporter of Harris since she declared her presidential candidacy following Joe Biden’s exit from the race this past July.

Numerous influential figures in the blockchain and emerging technology sectors, alongside Musk, have actively supported Trump’s campaign, including Gemini co-founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss.

This week, the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz’s division, a16z, contributed $23 to the former U.S. president’s campaign.

In a summer post on X, Cuban referred to Trump’s backing from Silicon Valley as a “bitcoin play,” suggesting that a win for the former reality television star would facilitate “easier operations for crypto businesses due to the inevitable and necessary changes at the SEC.”

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has faced longstanding criticism for its regulation-by-enforcement strategy regarding digital assets. Upon his return to the Oval Office, Trump has vowed to dismiss its chair, Gary Gensler.

“We will have regulations, but from now on, the rules will be crafted by those who support your industry, not those who oppose it,” Trump stated at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference this past summer.

Following Trump’s election, Bitcoin’s price surged past $75,000, surpassing record highs established by Satoshi Nakamoto this past March.

Kamala Harris Defeated

Cuban had prominently campaigned for Harris on several occasions leading up to Election Day, most recently participating in a recorded discussion with Harris regarding her proposed economic strategy.

The former attorney general had sought to attract crypto voters in the weeks preceding the election as she aimed for the presidency, though her efforts were unsuccessful.

“We will promote innovative technologies like AI and digital assets while safeguarding consumers and investors,” Harris stated during a recent campaign event. “We will establish a secure business environment with consistent and transparent regulations.”

Trump is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 20, 2025, marking the official start of his second term in office.
