An illegal mining operation discovered in a garden house in Bashkortostan., 2026/04/21 10:06:41

In the Demsky district of Bashkortostan, energy officials uncovered an illegal mining farm set up in a garden house. According to the regional prosecutor’s office, the organizer was a 31-year-old resident of Ufa.
The violation was identified during an inspection of the housing and utilities sector. As reported by the supervisory authority, the cryptocurrency mining equipment had been operational from July 2024 until February of the current year.
To reduce electricity costs, the farm’s owner reprogrammed the meter: the device understated actual consumption by approximately 96%, as claimed by the utility provider. Consequently, the damage amounted to over 1.8 million rubles.
The prosecutor’s office has forwarded the inspection materials to the preliminary investigation authority. Following their review, a criminal case has been initiated under the article “causing property damage through deception or abuse of trust.”
Previously, the FSB of Russia in the Sverdlovsk region, in collaboration with energy officials from the “Rosseti Ural” branch, discovered an illegal mining farm with more than 850 devices in an abandoned industrial facility near the city of Asbest.
