NCR Atleos has introduced a new functionality that enables users to convert BTC to cash through ATMs across 30 U.S. states. Transactions are facilitated via the LibertyX application.
NCR Atleos Corporation, a prominent provider of self-service financial technology solutions, has announced the debut of LibertyX Bitcoin Cashout, a new feature that allows customers in the U.S. to sell BTC and obtain cash at ATMs.
To execute the transaction, users need to utilize the LibertyX mobile app. They should then select the ATM where they wish to collect the cash. The ATM must be equipped with Atleos’ API ReadyCode software interface, which is shown in the app. Subsequently, users send BTC to the designated address. Once the transaction is validated, they receive a unique one-time access code. After scanning this code at the specified ATM, users can promptly receive cash for their BTC sale. There is a $400 limit on cash withdrawals using the access code at ATMs, but users can conduct multiple transactions using different codes.

This new feature will be accessible in 30 U.S. states during the initial phase of the rollout. As stated by Stuart MacKinnon, Chief Operating Officer of Atleos, the company currently manages over 280,000 ATMs in the U.S.
Chris Yim, General Manager of LibertyX, pointed out that one of the obstacles to increased consumer adoption of Bitcoin is the challenge of swiftly and easily converting the cryptocurrency into cash. He also highlighted that with LibertyX Bitcoin Cashout, users will no longer need to wait several days for bank transfers or navigate complex transfer methods to exchange BTC for cash.
Analysts anticipate that by 2027, the crypto ATM market size could reach $472 million.
