American Bitcoin, a cryptocurrency initiative supported by Eric Trump, has secured $220 million in a significant endeavor. This capital will be allocated for the acquisition of mining apparatus, as disclosed in a recent filing by Hut 8 Corp.

According to a Bloomberg article, approximately $10 million in equity was exchanged for Bitcoin instead of dollars on Friday, as part of a new share issuance to private investors.

“The Company plans to utilize the net proceeds to support its strategic and Bitcoin accumulation objectives, which may encompass, but are not limited to, the acquisition of Bitcoin and/or miners,” the filing stated.

American Bitcoin is a relatively recent organization established in March, focusing solely on large-scale Bitcoin mining and strategic Bitcoin reserve enhancement. The firm is primarily owned by Hut 8.

Donald Trump Jr., brother of Eric Trump, remarked in May, “merely purchasing Bitcoin is just part of the equation,” emphasizing that mining it presents a greater opportunity under favorable economic conditions.

Hut 8 Plans American Bitcoin Merger

The report indicated that the company is aiming for a Nasdaq listing through a complete stock merger with Gryphon Digital Mining.

Post-merger, both sons of President Trump, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., along with current shareholders, will hold 98% of the shares in the newly formed entity, a decision that was previously announced in May.

The newly merged entity will function under the American Bitcoin name and is anticipated to adopt the ticker symbol “ABTC” on Nasdaq.

Hut 8’s Global Expansion Plans

Furthermore, a representative informed Bloomberg on Monday that Hut 8 is looking to broaden its operations by entering new markets.

The mining powerhouse has selected Dubai as its next mining location, considering the city’s favorable stance towards cryptocurrency. This expansion initiative is not connected to the Trump-affiliated venture, the source noted.
