Alibaba Cloud, a division of the Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, in collaboration with Avalanche, has established a launchpad for enterprises to create metaverses on the layer 1 blockchain.
Named “Cloudverse,” this platform aims to provide a comprehensive, all-in-one solution for businesses to effortlessly customize, launch, and manage their own metaverse environments, thus opening new avenues for customer engagement.
Alibaba Cloud’s Metaverse Launchpad
As stated in the official blog post, all blockchain components in this new initiative, including digital land, wearables, and various digital assets, are constructed on Avalanche.
Alibaba Cloud is responsible for delivering scalable, efficient, and secure cloud infrastructure services, encompassing computing, storage, databases, networking, and intelligent operational platforms. Conversely, Avalanche, along with a third collaborator known as MUA DAO, will concentrate on providing solutions for developing metaverse environments.
In a statement, Raymond Xiao, Head of International Web3 Solutions at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, highlighted the significant interest from businesses in the Asia-Pacific region looking to enter the Web3 domain due to the increasing popularity of blockchain technology and the metaverse. The collaboration between Alibaba Cloud and Avalanche originated in December 2022, when both parties announced an integration to support Alibaba Cloud’s Node-as-a-Service initiatives. At that time, the cloud computing segment of the Chinese conglomerate began offering infrastructure and tools to assist users in Asia in launching validators on the network.
Alibaba Cloud’s Web3 Strategy
As it expands its presence in the Web3 sector, Alibaba Cloud recently revealed intentions to promote the development of a more inclusive and secure modern internet driven by blockchain technology. To this end, the company partnered with a layer one blockchain protocol, Elastos, last month to create and implement next-generation solutions.
Additionally, Alibaba Cloud signed a memorandum of understanding with Sui blockchain developer Mysten Labs in January to cultivate sustainable Web3 ecosystems.
