The South Korean company Lotte aims to enhance its footprint in the Web3 sector through a collaboration with blockchain firm Aptos Labs. The initiative will initially focus on NFTs and Metaverse technologies.
Officials from Aptos Labs have revealed a strategic alliance with Lotte Group, one of the largest conglomerates in South Korea, which consists of around 90 diverse companies. The overarching aim of this partnership is to broaden the chaebol’s involvement in the Web3 domain.

This collaboration will mainly impact Daehong Communications, a marketing arm of Lotte Group. The partnership will kick off with the Metaverse initiative Bellyland, which is being developed by Daehong Communications in conjunction with Animoca Brands. Experts from Aptos Labs will assist with the server infrastructure of Super Jelly, the reward system for Bellyland. Additionally, NFT rewards will be obtainable through various Jelly Adventures games and missions occurring within the Bellyland virtual environment, utilizing the Aptos blockchain network.
As a result of this partnership, the corporation intends to further its engagement in the Web3 sector across other companies within the Lotte chaebol in the future. Plans include establishing collaboration between the NFT initiative BellyGom and the sports loyalty program Baekho Eleven. Furthermore, the conglomerate’s future projects encompass the creation of loyalty programs for community marketing and payment solutions based on digital assets.
In 2023, Aptos Labs secured over $400 million from prominent U.S. investment firms, including a16z, PayPal Ventures, Franklin Templeton, Apollo Global, Coinbase Ventures, Jump Crypto, among others. Additionally, the project is actively collaborating with major corporations to implement Web3 technologies. In August of the previous year, the partnership between Aptos Labs and Microsoft was announced, aimed at integrating AI and Web3-based innovations into the operations of significant players in the TradFi sector.
