A film titled 'Bitcoin' about Craig Wright is being made in Hollywood0

Filming for the movie “Bitcoin,” directed by Doug Liman, has commenced in the United States. Liman is recognized for his works such as “The Bourne Identity,” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” and “Edge of Tomorrow.” The project was initially developed under the title “Kill Satoshi.”

The film is categorized as a thriller, with the screenplay penned by Nick Schenk, a recipient of the Writers Guild of America Award. Production began in late February, and the distribution will be handled by the company 193.

The narrative is inspired by actual events. The story revolves around Australian scientist and entrepreneur Craig Wright, who endeavors to prove that he is the creator of Bitcoin. This claim not only jeopardizes his safety but also ignites a worldwide controversy, drawing in a conflict among tech magnates and global leaders, as explained by the film’s creators.

Casey Affleck will portray Craig Wright, with supporting roles featuring Pete Davidson, Gal Gadot, and Isla Fisher.

According to Variety, the film’s production will incorporate artificial intelligence and motion capture technologies to achieve highly realistic scenes.

For several years, Craig Wright has publicly asserted that he is behind the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto and was involved in the creation of Bitcoin. These claims have been contested by members of the crypto community. In 2024, the High Court of England and Wales ruled that Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto and mandated him to cease making such assertions. Subsequently, under the threat of being held accountable for perjury, Wright admitted that he did not create Bitcoin.
