World Mobile becomes available on Google Play for users in Australia, Canada, the UK, and the US.

Decentralized wireless (DeWi) network provider World Mobile has revealed the launch of its application on Google Play for users in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Canada, and Tanzania as of August 22.

This launch follows a series of beta tests carried out in various markets often regarded as underserved in terms of mobile connectivity and access, including Kenya, Mozambique, and Nigeria. The World Mobile app is also presently accessible in Zanzibar.

World Mobile states that its DeWi services aim to close the divide between major telecommunications companies and those in underserved regions. This is achieved by offering certain connectivity services and promoting a blockchain-based sharing system supported by its proprietary token, WMT, along with other tokens based on Cardano.

As reported by Cointelegraph recently, World Mobile employs a mix of existing infrastructure and alternative technological solutions to cater to users. In certain regions, for instance, the company claims to utilize “TV white space” to transmit and receive data through unused television broadcast frequencies. In other locations, it has adapted SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service for mobile consumer use.

World Mobile indicates that the Google Play launch will showcase the most recent version of the app; however, due to geographical limitations, some features may not be accessible:

“It’s important to note that while this release introduces an array of exciting features, not all functions will be universally available due to the varying regulatory frameworks in different countries.”

In related developments, World Mobile has also disclosed a partnership with the artificial intelligence and robotics firm SingularityNET.

The post further notes that the partnership will investigate an AI and blockchain-based lending and credit approval service that “adapts to the users’ payment history and reputation.”
