Vitalik Buterin to Present Main Address at Ethcon 20230

The Ethereum Foundation is organizing the highly anticipated Ethcon Korea 2023 Ethereum Developer Conference, returning this year to offer Ethereum developers a platform for idea exchange.

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, will be the keynote speaker at Ethcon 2023, presenting the latest updates on Ethereum development and outlining the project’s future direction.

Since its inaugural event in 2019, the Ethereum Foundation has backed Ethcon, recognizing the importance of knowledge sharing within the developer community. The Foundation’s support is crucial for maintaining Ethcon as Korea’s premier developer conference, given the event’s non-commercial nature. The conference is entirely organized by volunteers from the local community who dedicate their time to its planning and execution.

Scheduled from September 1 to September 3, 2023, the conference spans three days and precedes the highly anticipated Korea Blockchain Week 2023, a conference organized by FactBlock and Hashed from September 4 to September 10.

Ethcon Korea 2023 will focus on developers, highlighting contributions from both global and South Korean developers who will present insightful research and innovative projects aimed at advancing Ethereum and the broader Web3 ecosystem.

The event will coincide with an engaging three-day hackathon that will bring together leading developers to collaborate on new concepts and original research, which they will have the opportunity to showcase during a live-streamed demo day at the event’s conclusion.

The Hackathon will implement Quadratic financing, a democratic approach to public good funding and evaluation developed by Vitalik and first utilized by Gitcoin, aligning with community principles. Through the quadratic funding model, judges, sponsors, and attendees can all contribute votes to influence the final outcomes, allowing community support for innovative ideas to be effectively combined with larger donor contributions.

In an effort to foster a diverse array of active researchers and lesser-known developers, Ethcon Korea is inviting submissions for papers and presentations until July 18. The primary goal of the conference is to promote the sharing of relevant experiences among participants.

The event will be hosted at Platz2, a spacious and comfortable co-working venue located in the center of Seoul.
