The proposal to upgrade to v2.1.0 Parity, initiated by the core development team Joint L1 Task Force (L1TF), received unanimous approval from the Terra Classic community.
Following the approval, the L1TF is set to update the chain on June 14, significantly transforming Terra Classic in the process. A primary advantage is that Terra Classic will align with other blockchains such as Terra 2.0 and various Cosmos chains. Consequently, developers and projects may once again leverage the Terra Classic infrastructure.
Major Changes Ahead
This marks one of the most substantial updates since the Terra Classic community took control of the blockchain in May of the previous year, following the Terra-LUNA conflict. LuncBurnArmy, the project manager overseeing the Joint L1 Task Force, has announced that June 14 will be the official date for the CosmWasm v1.1.0 parity update.

The countdown timer indicates that Terra Classic will transition to version 2.1.0 of its firmware on June 14 at 13:15:23 UTC (block height 13215800). Both the block height and the upgrade timeline are subject to change.
Prior to the upgrade, it is essential to update all nodes and validators to version 2.1.0. Developers Fragwuerdig and Vinh Nguyen are available to assist dapp and smart contract providers with the necessary upgrades and migrations. For projects needing ‘sealed’ smart contracts, it is also required to engage L1TF or its creators.
The v2.1.0 upgrade includes key elements such as CosmWasm v1.1.0, a minimum 5% fee for validators, and two security enhancements. Additional updates encompass WasmVM (currently at version 1.1.2), Wasmd (now featuring multichain support), IBC (currently at version 4.3.1), along with various bug fixes.
The voting results for proposal 11561 “Upgrade to v2.1.0” were 99.99% in favor, with only 0.01% opposing it. Nearly no votes were cast for “Abstain” or “No with veto” on the proposal.
