Sui Network introduces login options for DApps via Google, Twitch, and Facebook.

Layer-one blockchain Sui Network has made progress in streamlining onboarding, enabling users to register for Sui-powered applications without the need to handle an external or seed phrase.

In a press release dated Sept. 13, the Sui Foundation announced that users would have the ability to access decentralized applications (DApps) by utilizing their Google, Facebook, and Twitch login credentials through a new zkLogin (Zero Knowledge login) feature.

Rather than managing cumbersome Web3 wallets, users can log in in a manner similar to their usual interactions on other parts of the internet.

“By allowing users to enter dApps with the social logins they are accustomed to, zkLogin eliminates a significant barrier to introducing the advantages of blockchain-based applications to billions of mainstream users,” stated Sui Foundation Managing Director Greg Siourounis.

Onboarding has consistently been a challenge for the blockchain sector, with both novice and seasoned users expressing dissatisfaction over various usability issues — including the necessity to sign transactions, safeguard seed phrases, and provide lengthy strings of complex information to access certain DApps.

In a statement, Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder and CPO of Mysten Labs, acknowledged this issue.

“Too many individuals — whose everyday lives would benefit from blockchain technologies — are irretrievably lost at our doorstep, frustrated at installing Web3 wallets and managing seed phrases.”

The Sui Foundation clarified that the zkLogin feature enables users to enjoy the privacy and ownership-preserving attributes of blockchain-based applications without compromising security.

Zero knowledge proof technology functions by permitting one party to validate the truth of a specific assertion without disclosing any information beyond the mere fact that the assertion is indeed true.

Other firms attempt to enhance Web3 onboarding

Nonetheless, the Sui Foundation is not alone in its efforts to dismantle the obstacles to broader Web3 adoption.

On Aug. 28, cryptocurrency exchange DYOR revealed that it was creating a social media-like application for users to engage with the decentralized finance () market, aiming to reduce the usability barrier of what is often perceived as a complicated aspect of crypto markets.

In a similar vein, a new Web3 gaming company named Moxy has been working to onboard gamers into the Web3 ecosystem by employing a somewhat different strategy for blockchain gaming. Instead of adopting play-to-earn models, Moxy has established a competition-based esports platform where players can wager against one another and earn cryptocurrency.

Another significant development in onboarding has been the emergence of Telegram trading bots like Unibot and BananaGun, enabling traders to acquire new tokens and seek airdrops directly within the Telegram application.
