Solana Labs introduces ChatGPT plugin for retrieving blockchain information.

Users of Solana (SOL) will soon have the ability to engage with the network via an open-source plugin integrated into OpenAI’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, ChatGPT.

This plugin will enable ChatGPT to verify wallet balances, transfer Solana-native tokens, and acquire non-fungible tokens (NFTs) once OpenAI makes the plugin feature accessible, as stated in a tweet from Solana Labs on April 25, the organization responsible for the Solana blockchain’s development.

Solana Labs is also inviting developers to experiment with the open-source code to access on-chain data that may be of interest to them.

The image shared by Solana Labs indicates that ChatGPT can obtain a list of NFTs owned by a specific Solana address, which includes a linked metadata reference to the NFT — likely sourced from Solana Labs’ block explorer.

Solana Labs did not specify whether the plugin would be released when OpenAI makes the plugin feature available to all users.

The new ChatGPT plugins function by gathering information from online sources and interacting with third-party websites to fulfill user commands. This feature is currently being rolled out to all users.

However, not all users are pleased with this development.

One Twitter user suggested that Solana should prioritize creating a “functional block explorer,” while another inquired about the advantages this would bring to the ecosystem.

It seems that Solana Labs is now shifting its focus towards AI, having also announced on April 25 that it will allocate $1 million in funding for projects that develop AI tools on the Solana platform:

ChatGPT users can now erase chat history

On the same day, OpenAI revealed that ChatGPT users can now “disable” their chat history, thanks to a new privacy feature.

The team announced the introduction of this feature in an April 25 statement, aimed at giving users greater control over their data. The company added:

“Conversations initiated when chat history is turned off won’t be utilized to train and enhance our models, and won’t be visible in the history sidebar.”

This feature can be accessed in ChatGPT’s settings, which can be modified at any time, according to OpenAI.

OpenAI clarified that deleted conversations will be stored for 30 days for the purpose of reviewing them to detect abusive content. After this period, conversations will be permanently erased.

The AI company also introduced a new “export” option for users to download their data and better understand what information ChatGPT retains.

The introduction of this privacy feature follows Italy’s recent decision to become the first European nation to ban ChatGPT until it adheres to the European Union’s user privacy regulations under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
