Sam Bankman-Fried seeks weekday release for legal preparation activities.

Days after a federal judge revoked the bail of FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, he is now requesting permission to spend five weekdays outside of detention to work with his legal team on his defense.
In a letter addressed to Judge Lewis Kaplan on Friday, as reported by Bloomberg, Bankman-Fried’s legal representatives indicated that their client is encountering challenges in thoroughly reviewing the vast amount of documents related to the case while being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Christian Everdell, the attorney representing Bankman-Fried, remarked:
“Just last week the government produced three-quarters of a million pages of Slack communications, which were supposed to be produced months ago, that Mr. Bankman-Fried will have no hope of reviewing under this schedule.”
Everdell noted that granting Bankman-Fried access to his legal team and permitting him to use an internet-capable laptop at the courthouse would expedite the legal process. The attorney underscored the importance of this arrangement, especially with his fraud trial set to commence in October.
Maintaining his innocence, Bankman-Fried is facing accusations of orchestrating a complex fraud scheme that involved the unauthorized diversion of billions of dollars from FTX customer funds for personal use.

Prosecutors have reportedly contended that unless Bankman-Fried swiftly discloses information regarding the advice he received and its source, he should be barred from presenting this defense during the trial.
The prosecutors also mentioned their capability to provide Bankman-Fried with information stored on hard drives.
However, due to restrictions, not all information can be accommodated on a laptop or drive. Prison officials have rejected a proposal to transfer Bankman-Fried to facilitate access to a laptop, and he is still awaiting a judge’s ruling on his recent requests.
