Recent Developments Drive Increase in New MATIC Addresses on Polygon0

  • Daily, 556 new MATIC addresses were created on the Polygon network.
  • Data from Glassnode indicates that the number of addresses has risen by 40% over the past year.

The growing use of (PoS) signifies a transformative shift occurring within the digital asset market. This year, Polygon has remained relatively subdued, as conversations surrounding Ethereum and networks have taken precedence.

However, recent statistics reveal that the daily creation of new addresses on the platform has surged. On May 22nd, 556 new MATIC addresses were established on the Polygon network each day, as reported by crypto analyst and trader Ali Martinez. This marks a return to levels last observed in February 2021.

Encouraging Data

The rising interest and participation from users within the Polygon ecosystem is reflected in the address count, which has consistently trended upward and has largely remained resilient against MATIC’s price fluctuations. Furthermore, the total number of addresses on the network has climbed to over 1.83k, up from just above 1.66k at the beginning of the year (a growth of 10.68%).

According to Glassnode, the number of addresses has increased by approximately 40% in the past year. Recently, Polygon revealed improvements to zkEVM that are expected to reduce costs by around 20%. This adjustment aims to attract new users.

The statistics for the network’s zkEVM also appear promising, with a total value locked (TVL) of $14.26 million since its launch in March, a 19.7 percent rise in unique addresses, and a 15 percent increase in deposits.

Last month, Polygon partnered with Mastercard, a prominent US payment processor, along with other and blockchain entities. As per CMC, the current price of MATIC stands at $0.884, reflecting a 2.38% increase in the last 24 hours.
