Matter Labs withdraws as zkSync introduces ecosystem portal overseen by DappRadar.

Matter Labs has recently revealed the introduction of a new ecosystem portal for zkSync, overseen by DappRadar, which both entities describe as a move towards the complete decentralization of the protocol.
zkSync, a layer-2 blockchain designed for Ethereum transactions, was developed by Matter Labs as a solution for enhancing the scalability of the Ethereum blockchain ecosystem. It currently features over 200 projects and, as stated on the protocol’s website, has facilitated more than 8.8 million testnet transactions.

As reported by Cointelegraph in April, the launch was met with a degree of excitement, as it achieved $115 million in funds bridged within the first 10 days following its public mainnet debut.
The collaboration with DappRadar is part of Matter Labs’ ongoing strategy to decentralize zkSync, as indicated in a recent press release reviewed by Cointelegraph:
“From the outset, the ultimate goal for Matter Labs has been to incubate, launch, and ultimately decentralize the zkSync protocol and ZK Stack. In another step towards this vision, Matter Labs is reducing its involvement in managing zkSync’s rapidly expanding ecosystem.”
The press release further states that “decentralization is achieved by gradually removing Matter Labs from the development of the technology and oversight of the ecosystem.”
These modifications align with the zkSync credo, a document created in June that illustrates the principles of the zkSync community, emphasizing ideals such as “trustlessness” and “sovereignty.”
The ZK Credo outlines (1) principles and (2) community ethos.
(1) The essential principles vital for decentralized networks:
– Trustlessness
– Security
– Reliability
– Censorship-Resistance
– Privacy
– Accessibility
– Hyperscalability
– Sovereignty

DappRadar’s platform is expected to enhance the visibility of decentralized applications featured through the zkSync ecosystem portal, and according to Matter Labs, this should lead to increased user engagement and greater opportunities for media coverage from prominent outlets.

Looking ahead, Matter Labs asserts that relinquishing control of the zkSync ecosystem is “just the beginning.” “Next on the agenda,” as stated in the press release, “are initiatives to fully decentralize the protocol’s technology, community governance, and all other essential components of the network.”
