Machi Big Brother drops defamation case against ZachXBT.

Taiwanese music figure Jeffrey Huang, known as “Machi Big Brother,” has retracted a defamation lawsuit against online investigator ZachXBT.
In a joint statement released on Aug. 14, Machi Big Brother remarked, “Zach has frequently provided significant assistance to the crypto community, and taking legal action against him was a last resort but not the appropriate course,” following a series of revisions made by ZachXBT to his article that led to Huang’s defamation claim.

In the meantime, ZachXBT mentioned that he “updated my article with further context from Machi + my own edits,” which prompted Huang to retract the lawsuit. “While I am disappointed it initially went the legal route, I am grateful we could reach a resolution,” Zach stated.

In June 2022, ZachXBT released an article on Medium alleging that Huang misappropriated funds related to his involvement in previous crypto projects. Huang has denied these claims. The allegations have not been substantiated in a court of law. At the time of publication, ZachXBT’s initial claims regarding misappropriation have been removed.
On June 16, 2023, Huang initiated a defamation lawsuit against ZachXBT in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, stating, “I have consistently asserted that the allegations in his article are untrue.” When asked about the possibility of responding to a court subpoena concerning his corporate activities, Huang replied, “I’m legit asf.”
ZachXBT subsequently made a request for community contributions to cover the legal fees associated with the previous lawsuit. Within 24 hours, over $1 million was raised, with significant donations from Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao and Kraken co-founder Jesse Powell. A well-known on-chain researcher, ZachXBT’s investigative efforts have been referenced as evidence in ongoing lawsuits and criminal cases.
