DappRadar: Asia’s Ongoing Gaming Leadership Essential for Web3 Games
Asia is deemed “essential” to the Web3 gaming sector as it currently holds the largest share of gamers, gaming revenue, and exhibits a strong interest in blockchain technology, according to a recent report.
An April 13 report from the analytics platform DappRadar highlighted that the Asian market comprises over 1.7 billion video game players, representing 55% of the global gaming population.
Additionally, it accounts for more than half of the worldwide gaming revenue and has historically been “the driving force” behind the international gaming sector, as stated in the report.

Given these elements, DappRadar asserts that the Asia region “plays a vital role in the adoption of blockchain gaming.”
China, Japan, and South Korea are the leading countries in the Asian gaming industry and host 62 of the top 100 gaming companies worldwide by market capitalization.
According to DappRadar, China has prohibited cryptocurrency and restricts gaming companies from incorporating blockchain technology into their games.
In contrast, gaming firms in Japan and South Korea are “at the forefront of adopting blockchain technology in gaming,” citing Sony’s recent NFT-related patents and Sega’s announcement regarding its forthcoming blockchain game.
A survey involving 1,030 Japanese individuals aged from their 20s to 70s, referenced in the report, indicated a positive outlook for the Japanese blockchain gaming sector.

Furthermore, the report underscored the importance of airdrops in encouraging gamers to explore new games.
