Binance Discontinues BUSD: Key Information Regarding This Significant Cryptocurrency Transition0

Binance’s Bold Move

Binance, a giant in the cryptocurrency exchange sector, has recently made a noteworthy announcement that is causing waves within the crypto community. The exchange has revealed its plans to gradually discontinue Binance USD (BUSD) across its various services. This significant decision arises from Paxos ceasing the minting of new BUSD tokens. Furthermore, Binance emphasizes that BUSD will continue to be backed at a 1:1 ratio with the U.S. dollar, assuring users of its ongoing value.

How Does This Impact Users?

Nevertheless, the platform is encouraging its users to take proactive measures. Binance advises that users convert their BUSD holdings to alternative available on their platform before February 2024. Additionally, as a specific concession, users can exchange BUSD for FDUSD without incurring trading fees or execute a direct swap at a 1:1 ratio.

Beginning September 7, 2023, the ability to borrow BUSD in Binance’s Cross Margin trading feature will be suspended. As a result, starting October 19, 2023, it will no longer be possible to deposit additional BUSD as new collateral into Cross Margin Wallets. Importantly, from the same September start date, Binance will halt withdrawals of Binance-Peg BUSD tokens through networks such as BNB Chain, Avalanche, and others. However, transactions on the Ethereum network using BUSD in its ERC-20 format will continue until further notice.

More Changes On The Horizon

In addition, as part of this comprehensive strategy, Binance plans to gradually eliminate BUSD-margined perpetual contracts. Users will receive separate notifications regarding each delisting. Therefore, it is crucial to convert BUSD balances in futures wallets to other supported futures margin assets. In another significant development, starting October 13, 2023, Binance’s Simple Earn Flexible Products will no longer accept BUSD subscriptions. Furthermore, by September 15, 2023, the Auto-Invest feature will cease to support BUSD plans, transitioning them to FDUSD Auto-Invest plans.

Flexible Staking will conclude all existing BUSD positions by September 14, 2023. Additionally, as of September 6, 2023, BUSD will no longer be available as a loanable asset on Binance and VIP Loans. Lastly, Binance Gift Cards will discontinue the use of BUSD by September 30, 2023, with BUSD also being removed as an order currency within Binance Pay Merchant Service on the same date.

While these adjustments may appear challenging, Binance reassures its users of its unwavering dedication to their best interests.
