Anoma Foundation Launches Namada Mainnet at Korea Blockchain Week0

The Anoma Foundation, a non-profit entity dedicated to blockchain advancements, has announced its plans for the Namada mainnet. Awa Sun Yin, a co-founder of Namada, shared this information during Korea Blockchain Week in Seoul.

Namada operates as a Layer-1 blockchain protocol with a focus on asset-agnostic privacy across multiple blockchains. Its pioneering application of zero-knowledge cryptography allows for a single shielded set that can accommodate any fungible or non-fungible assets from the Ethereum or Cosmos ecosystems, thereby maintaining the integrity of multichain transactions. This feature is a key differentiator for the platform.

Namada adopts a unique approach that transcends limitations by providing composable privacy. This capability enables existing assets, decentralized applications, and entire blockchain networks to be effortlessly enhanced with privacy functionalities without altering their core architecture. Namada ensures that user privacy is preserved even when engaging with transparent chains or decentralized applications that do not have built-in privacy measures. The implementation of “shielded actions,” an advanced technology that facilitates private interactions across various platforms and applications, achieves this elevated level of privacy integration.

“The lack of privacy in crypto is becoming an existentially threatening centralization point,” stated Awa Sun Yin, co-founder of Namada. “In recent years, we’ve seen large improvements in cryptography, combined with a more mature and growing multichain landscape – making it possible to make the best privacy accessible for any user. At this point, making privacy practical for anyone in crypto is no longer rocket science – it’s a matter of prioritization.”

Anoma and Namada’s blockchain research and development firm Heliax has made notable progress, including hosting the largest trusted setup ceremony to date, which involved an impressive 2510 participants as of December 2022. Over 200 institutional and independent validators have recognized and engaged in Namada’s successful navigation of complex public testnets.

In the upcoming period, additional information regarding Namada’s official launch, mainnet roadmap, token economics, and genesis proposal will be disclosed.
