Co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, described Ethereum as a neutral technology that does not belong to him or any specific group of developers. Individuals do not need to agree with his personal views to utilize the blockchain.
He shared a post on social media platform X, stating that the Ethereum network is a censorship-resistant system where anyone can deploy their application or transfer funds without needing approval from Buterin, the Ethereum Foundation, or the developers supporting the protocol. Disagreements regarding politics, culture, or artificial intelligence will not result in anyone being excluded from the network, the crypto entrepreneur assured.
The programmer mentioned that he faces considerable criticism for his comments on projects built on Ethereum. He asserted his right to express opposition to projects whose concepts he disagrees with and which, in his view, do not meet certain standards. Similarly, others are entitled to disagree with his ideas. As Buterin articulated, protocols should remain neutral, but individuals are not infrastructure and can hold their own opinions.

The Ethereum co-founder cited the Linux operating system, which is utilized by many corporations worldwide. The crypto entrepreneur explained that Linux is a neutral technology that can be employed both to enhance individual rights and freedoms and to create “corporate waste.” In his view, it is insufficient to merely create the Linux kernel; an ecosystem based on the values of freedom must be built around it. The same principle applies to Ethereum: it is not enough to establish a blockchain; the infrastructure that aligns with ideals of independence must be developed, Buterin stated.
Recently, the developer-entrepreneur proposed making Ethereum a network for payment operations conducted using artificial intelligence. Buterin also suggested leveraging AI in prediction markets, as neural networks are capable of analyzing large volumes of data.
