U.S. Senator Outlines Timeline for Review of Trump’s Cryptocurrency Legislation, 2026/02/19 17:58:49
Republican Senator Bernie Moreno has indicated that the CLARITY Act, a bill aimed at delineating the powers of financial regulators and promoted by the administration of President Donald Trump, is expected to be passed within a few months.
The CLARITY Act is currently under consideration in the Senate. Separate versions of the bill have been prepared by members of the Senate Banking Committee and the Agriculture Committee.
“The progress of the bill has stalled. One reason is that the Banking Committee’s version includes a prohibition on interest payments to stablecoin holders, which is opposed by the crypto industry. I anticipate that the bill will be approved by April,” the senator stated.

He assured that the current administration’s support for the crypto sector will continue, even though the upcoming elections in November may result in Congress coming under Democratic control.
According to the legislator, excessive restrictions on stablecoin issuers and other crypto firms could drive business out of the country, while balanced regulation could attract capital to the United States.
Earlier, Matt Hougan, the Chief Investment Officer of the crypto asset management firm Bitwise, mentioned that the CLARITY Act will determine the future of the cryptocurrency market.
