The quantity of Ether sold by Buterin has been revealed., 2026/02/24 18:39:50

Co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, has sold 3,765 ETH over the past four days for a total of $7.08 million, bringing his total sales since the beginning of February to 10,723 ETH. The overall amount reached approximately $21.7 million at an average price of $2,027 per ETH, as reported by analysts from Onchain Lens.
Buterin commenced the sale of ethers shortly after he informed his followers on social media platform X at the end of January about his intention to divest 16,384 ETH. At that time, the value of these assets was around $45 million. According to the programmer’s statement, he aims to fund the development of open-source software and hardware. He indicated that the funds would also be allocated to support projects in finance, communications, governance, operating systems, hardware, and biotechnology.
Over the last 30 days, Ether has decreased in value by 37%. Currently, the altcoin is trading at $1,842 with a total market capitalization of $222.6 billion. The price of Ether remains 63% lower than its all-time high of $4,953, which was reached in August of the previous year. Some followers have criticized Buterin for his sell-off amid a weak market.
During his previous sale of 6,958 ethers for $14.78 million, the ETH price plummeted by 22.7%, from $2,360 to $1,825. A few days ago, when the developer sold 1,869 ETH for $3.67 million, Ether dropped by 5.7%, from $1,988 to $1,875.
Recently, Buterin stated that individuals do not need to agree with his personal views on decentralized applications or artificial intelligence to utilize Ethereum. Previously, the programmer urged developers of second-layer solutions not to replicate his blockchain but to create something innovative.
