Société Générale has introduced support for the XRP Ledger for the EURCV stablecoin., 2026/02/20 13:51:37

SG-FORGE, the cryptocurrency division of the French banking group Société Générale, has launched the euro-pegged stablecoin EUR CoinVertible (EURCV) on the XRP Ledger blockchain developed by Ripple.
The management of Société Générale has clarified that the choice of the XRP Ledger network is due to its high transaction speed and low fees. Representatives of the holding stated that Ripple’s asset custody tools meet stringent banking security requirements.
According to the stablecoin developers, EURCV is backed by bank deposits and securities, and it has been created in compliance with the European Union’s Cryptocurrency Regulation (MiCA). Additionally, EURCV is compatible with the international banking information exchange system SWIFT.
Société Générale intends to utilize EURCV as collateral for trading, as well as for settlements and international money transfers—particularly in the tokenized asset market. The stablecoin has been tested by SWIFT with tokenized bonds. Currently, approximately 70.5 million EURCV are in circulation.
In 2023, Société Générale launched EURCV on the Ethereum network, and in 2024, it added support for Solana.
In 2023, the bank announced plans to list its stablecoin EURCV on the Bitstamp exchange, and in 2024, it initiated trading of EURCV on the Bitpanda cryptocurrency exchange. Last year, SG Forge revealed the launch of the dollar-pegged stablecoin USD CoinVertible (USDCV) on the Ethereum and Solana blockchains.
