The Omsk court sentenced one of the members of an organized group that illegally connected a mining farm to the TPP-4 in Omsk to three years and one month of conditional imprisonment.
The court found the 59-year-old man guilty of causing property damage through deception and commercial bribery. He received a sentence of three years and one month of conditional imprisonment with a probation period of 2.5 years. The court also mandated him to compensate the largest electricity producer in the region, the company “TGK-11,” for the damages incurred.
According to the investigation, from February 2022 to April 2024, the man acted as part of a group and facilitated the connection of the mining farm to the networks of TPP-4 in Omsk. To ensure the smooth operation of the scheme, he, along with three accomplices, paid the deputy technical director of the station 525,000 rubles for access to resources and for concealing the illegal consumption of electricity.
The Omsk region prosecutor’s office reported that during this period, the farm consumed over 3.7 million kWh of electricity, resulting in total damages exceeding 12.3 million rubles. The accused admitted his guilt and entered into a pre-trial cooperation agreement.
As part of the investigation, an arrest was placed on the assets of the defendants amounting to over 13 million rubles. The cases against the accused’s accomplices have been completed and forwarded to the prosecutor for approval of the indictment.
Previously, the Cherkessk city court issued a ruling in a case of illegal mining in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. A resident of the village of Chapaevsky in the Prikuban district was ordered to pay the company “Rosseti North Caucasus” 97.7 million rubles for unaccounted electricity consumption.
