FBI Issues Warning About New Cryptocurrency Scheme on Tron Network, 2026/03/20 12:19:42

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States has issued a warning regarding a new fraudulent scheme within the Tron network, targeting cryptocurrency wallet holders.
According to the agency, perpetrators are disseminating tokens accompanied by text messages that appear in blockchain explorers as official notifications from law enforcement agencies.
Users are being urged to undergo mandatory “verification” as part of anti-money laundering (AML) procedures. The message claims that wallets are “under investigation,” and failure to provide information may result in “asset blocking.” The FBI has advised individuals to disregard such notifications.
“The FBI New York is urging Tron blockchain users to exercise caution if they encounter tokens purportedly associated with the bureau,” the statement reads.
The agency emphasized that personal or identifying information should not be shared through third-party websites related to these tokens. Users who may have fallen victim to the scheme are encouraged to contact the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).
Previously, the FBI reported that in 2025, fraudsters stole over $333 million from U.S. residents using cryptocurrency ATMs.
