The damage caused by illegal mining in the Krasnodar region reached 18.2 million rubles in 2025, compared to 745,000 rubles the previous year, as reported by “Kubanenergo.”

The volume of unauthorized electricity consumption also increased, totaling 1.8 million kWh, up from 412,000 kWh in 2024. 

The number of identified cases rose from three to five. Illegal mining farms were found in the villages of Kovalyevskoye and Uspenskoye, the Cossack village of Kavkazskaya, the settlement of Tamansky, and the hamlet of Limannoye.

In the neighboring Republic of Adygea, one instance of illegal mining was recorded. The damage amounted to 1.5 million rubles, with unaccounted consumption reaching 211,000 kWh.

By the end of 2025, the Krasnodar region ranked fourth in Russia for demand for mining equipment, accounting for 3.9% of the total purchases.

Previously, the Russian government proposed to amend the Criminal Code to include a provision regarding illegal mining. Liability may arise for cryptocurrency extraction without registration in the state registers of miners and mining infrastructure operators.
