Charles Hoskinson identified the “source of Bitcoin’s strength.”, 2026/04/09 15:22:11

The founder of the Cardano blockchain platform, Charles Hoskinson, stated that the strength of Bitcoin lies in the anonymity of its creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.
According to the Cardano founder, once a system has a publicly known creator, the focus of critics and opponents shifts from the technology to the individual.
“Once the originator is identified, a large group emerges that dedicates their life to attacking that person. The most brilliant thing Satoshi did was step back after launching the project,” Hoskinson remarked.
He lamented that in the cryptocurrency industry, many project founders are effectively deprived of the “luxury of anonymity.” As an example, Hoskinson referenced his own experience:
“People dislike Cardano because they dislike me. But Cardano is a protocol. Thousands of individuals contributed to it, writing code. Cardano is not Charles Hoskinson.”
In the entrepreneur’s view, Satoshi was aware of such risks in advance and intentionally distanced himself from the project during its early development, when the influence of an individual had not yet become associated with the first cryptocurrency network.
Hoskinson added that if the identity of Bitcoin’s creator were to be revealed, the “mystical aura” that has formed around the project would dissipate, which plays a significant role in the perception of the very first cryptocurrency. Recently, journalists from The New York Times conducted an investigation, concluding that the individual behind the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto is likely British cryptographer Adam Back.
