Burwick Law demands that Pump.fun stop harassing lawyers, 2026/01/20 11:55:19

New York law firm Burwick Law, which specializes in cryptocurrencies, filed a complaint in the Southern District of New York court against the memecoin launch platform Pump.fun, demanding that it stop harassing the company’s lawyers and creating tokens associated with it.
Lawyers claim that Pump.fun management and its users use tokens to intimidate and put pressure on the head of Burwick Law, Max Burwick. The complaint mentions social network user X under the pseudonym onchainrapist, who uses the Pump.fun logo. According to the plaintiffs, onchainrapist made numerous posts on the topic of sexual violence to harass Burvik.
Burwick Law said, citing informants, that Pump.fun CEO Alon Cohen is personally involved in marketing the platform, so such actions may be carried out under his control. The company also complained about individuals visiting the company’s offices and Burvik’s area to conduct surveillance on him.
The lawsuit also names the controversial DOGSHIT2 memecoin, which uses Burwick Law’s intellectual property, but the company claims it is not affiliated with it and has not launched any memecoins. The Pump.fun platform has not yet removed this token, despite requests from Burwick Law.
The company sought a court order to permanently remove any tokens associated with the plaintiffs, their lawyers and families, as well as to post on social media any threatening or intimidating content by Pump.fun that mentioned Burwick Law. Lawyers asked the court to block Pump.fun from using the Communications Decency Act as a defense, which allows service providers to legally distance themselves from the actions of users of their platform.
Last year, Burwick Law filed a class action lawsuit against the creators of the controversial Libra token, which received the support of Argentine President Javier Milei. The company also announced its readiness to begin legal proceedings against the Believe crypto platform.
