Billionaire Stanley Druckenmiller: Global Payments Will Shift to Stablecoins, 2026/03/14 10:06:55

American billionaire and investor, founder of Duquesne Capital, Stanley Druckenmiller has stated that global payment systems may shift to stablecoins within the next 10 to 15 years.
According to Druckenmiller, blockchain technology is already showcasing practical benefits in the payments sector. He believes that stablecoins—digital assets pegged to the value of traditional currencies—play a significant role in this transition.
“Blockchain and the use of stablecoins, and if you want to include cryptocurrencies and tokens, are incredibly beneficial in terms of enhancing efficiency,” the investor remarked.
He posits that in the coming years, such tools have the potential to significantly transform the financial system, as they enable transactions to be conducted more swiftly and at a lower cost than conventional payment infrastructure.
“I anticipate that in 10 or 15 years, all our payment systems will be based on stablecoins,” Druckenmiller stated.
However, the investor emphasized that he cautiously assesses the future of traditional cryptocurrencies and is uncertain about the long-term role of assets like Bitcoin in the financial landscape.
He noted that the popularity of cryptocurrencies is largely tied to public perception and interest. Druckenmiller believes that cryptocurrency has become a sort of brand that serves as a store of value for some investors.
Previously, Lee Hardman, a currency market expert at Japan’s largest bank, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), referred to stablecoins as a more practical form of money compared to volatile cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.
