Officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Republic of Ingushetia have uncovered an illegal mining operation located within a farming enterprise in the city of Malgobek. The damage caused by the unauthorized use of electricity is estimated to be around 1.5 million rubles.
The Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the republic’s Ministry has identified the owner of 49 mining devices. The individual is a 35-year-old resident of the village of Verkhniye Achaluki, who had rented space in the agricultural facility. The equipment was connected to the power grid without going through the metering devices.
A criminal case has been initiated against the suspect under part 1 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Causing property damage through deception or abuse of trust). The seized equipment has been placed under arrest. The maximum penalty for this offense can reach up to two years of imprisonment.

There is a ban on cryptocurrency mining in the region. According to official reports, in 2025, 19 mining farms were discovered in Ingushetia, with the volume of illegally consumed electricity amounting to 82.3 million kWh.
