American developer will launch a crypto platform with cashback to pay rent0

American developer Megatel Homes has announced the launch of a token-based rewards platform, MegPrime. The company received permission to do this from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Crypto cashback mechanisms have been used in credit card programs for several years, but MegPrime is the first such product for the real estate market. The operating principle of the platform is based on the use of MP tokens. Users will be able to receive rewards for their use, in particular, when paying for rent. The accumulated tokens can be used for everyday purchases or converted into US dollars.

Megatel Homes and MegPrime co-founder Aaron Ipour emphasized that the platform is designed to become a “financial lifeline” for real estate market participants in an environment of high interest rates and rising home prices. The company also promises to provide tenants with financial support when paying rent with tokens: tenants will be able to receive up to 100% of the last 12 months’ rent (maximum $25,000) towards a future home purchase. Homeowners using the platform will be able to access mortgage rates 2% below the market average.

Currently, about 32% of US residents rent housing. The national average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage, according to Freddie Mac, is 6.06%.

At the end of December, the head of Cardone Capital, billionaire Grant Cardone, announced that in 2026 he would open a public company that would work with both bitcoins and real estate. According to the businessman’s plan, the company will use monthly income from rental real estate, as well as tax deductions and other additional funds, to form a bitcoin reserve.
