A crypto farm on wheels was organized in Buryatia, 2026/01/12 13:16:41

In the Republic of Buryatia, police detained five local residents suspected of illegal cryptocurrency mining. Their farm was put on wheels – this way, according to the miners, it is more difficult to track.
According to police, three men set up a crypto farm right in the truck. They placed about a hundred mining devices in the back. Two assistants were involved in the case: one was responsible for connecting the equipment to electrical networks, the other drove the car.
The farm truck moved along power lines and from time to time connected to the networks without permission. The authorities estimated the damage from the actions of the suspects at approximately 3 million rubles.
During searches at the residences of the suspects, police found mining equipment, about 6.5 million rubles in cash, notebooks with notes and other evidence.
Investigators opened a criminal case under Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing property damage by deception or abuse of trust). The court chose a preventive measure for the suspected organizers in the form of a ban on certain actions. The rest of the detainees were given a written undertaking not to leave the place and to behave properly. Miners face up to two years in prison or a fine of up to 300,000 rubles.
In Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory, the ban on mining will be made year-round, reported Ministry of Energy of Russia. Now the restriction is valid only in winter, from November 15 to March 15. The ban applies to the southern areas of these two regions.
